From what I've seen in testing, getting chump blocked is only a major issue the first time you attack. Once you use his monstrosity(implying you use it asap), you have 9 more power on the table and chump blocking becomes MUCH less of an issue.

Not 5-drop related, but has anyone besides myself considered/tried running this guy? Seems like a less powerful/more interesting Rampaging Balothes...
for now i like it, just try it it's a new card
The Broodmaster has been good for me. Obviously it dies to removal, but if you untap or just have a billion mana lying around when you cast it you can mitigate that somewhat with monstrosity in response. Also the instant Gelatinous Genesis can go wide enough to mitigate the chump-block issue. Also it's fun to just tap a bunch of mana and put a bunch of dice all over the table.
It closes out games quickly when it their resistance breaks, but isn't impossible to interact with in a timely manner. I like it.

I have to agree. Birthing Pod was just the option I was missing, but is definitely not my favorite. I love the subtle card advantage on Courser, the life gain (even though I don't run any Pridemates at the moment), the fact that it's an enchantment (I run a constellation subtheme), and the fact that it's a 2/4. It might very well be my favorite green card.

Courser makes the war go smoothly but is like a less cool Oracle of Mul Daya. He is good, especially in Modern, where the synergy with Bob guarantees that you will lose life almost every upkeep.
Pod and Survival are the ideal level of difficulty in drafting and playing, really tough and nobody does it optimally and they're good enough to bail you out sometimes but not all the time. Plus if someone uses them to combo off in what is still Limited, you can't be THAT mad

Its like reusable tutor effects are oppressive, especially when the cost is actually 'shock something' or 'gain 2 life' or 'put a +1/+1 counter on my undying dude'; to say nothing of meliera pod in modern where the cost is 'fuck you, you're losing'.
My favourite green card is probably because haha that card is silly.
