I think you can price their abilities compared to other cards, but not really the cards as a whole, no. That's why I likened soul of shandalar to kamahl- disregarding their activated abilities and wondering how oppressive a 6-power 6-drop with first strike is.
Come on, man. That's kind of insulting. CLEARLY they aren't the same card, but both cost 6 and have 6 first strike damage. I just don't see how the first strike is what makes it "pushed." Does flying make the blue one pushed?
I honestly feel like the Soul cycle suffers from having to conform to cyclical standards. Reach and Deathtouch are really pathetic compared to the other abilities overall, but there's really no helping it because it's a core set and magic only has so many evergreens.
Making 2/1s for 4 instead of 1/1s for 3 is a pretty reasonable difference. If mobilization made 2/1s it would be insane. Not pack rat insane but still pretty damn powerful.
BUT =/= So I shouldn't have brought up heliod to begin with, really.
Sorry if I come off as attempting to rail you with the mercilessness signature of our very own CML, but allow me to reiterate. I feel as though first strike makes it pushed because it just completely trumps the other members of the cycle. At least all the rest trade with each other(unless you're white and you get to activate that ability). Not to mention as a big fan of red in general(it's my favorite color), I think I would have just liked haste better... Especially since first strike on a 6/6 makes killing it through creature combat virtually impossible(especially with that activated ability). It just feels like the best you can muster is a lucky trade unless you have a kill spell. I guess I'm also kind of making myself look a bit dumb here since I also said the black one should get intimidate(which would also make killing it with creature combat near impossible), but at least if they have to go on the defensive they don't have a wall that kills anything it blocks AND can burn you out to win the game.
On the note of the green Soul, I guess two 3/3s is a bit much...but at LEAST give me a 4/4...
PS: Just to be difficult, Mobilization isn't a creature. It's much harder to interact with as far as removal goes. Try finding a creature...
