General Print this Wizards! (So I can put it in my cube)

Ugh I'm an idiot it's supposed to cost {1}{B}

Probably fine then, though the second mode is still a little weak. First is pretty good? Probably not as good as Phyrexian Rager, though.

I need art for this. Name can change to fit if need be:
Low Sweep - {1}{R}
Low Sweep deals 2 damage divided as you choose among one or two target creatures and/or players.
Creatures dealt damage this way can’t block this turn.

Not my design but I want to try it.

Baby Gristle is indeed insane. He would liklely benifit from being decoupled from the origional so he can be his own guy.

Really what I want is a 4cc lifelink creature that draws cards somehow. That's a tough sell I know, since it looks really hard to draw the line between insatiable harpy and baneslayer angel.

Maybe this instead?

{B}{B}{2}
Flying, Lifelink
{B}: Pay 1 life: Draw a card. Play this ability only once per turn

Black Thieving Magpie coming to the rescue!

Murderous Magpie {2}{B}{B}
Creature - Zombie Bird
Flying, lifelink
At the beginning of your upkeep, you draw a card and you lose 1 life.
1/3
Other magpies collect jewels for their nests. Murderous magpies collect gleaming eyeballs for theirs.

This would probably be a really, really decent uncommon, but it might be too low-powered for your liking. Add power and toughness to season, though I really like the throwback and the match between 1 lifeloss and base 1-power lifelink :)

So cute :p

Problem is it basically doesn't have lifelink, and actually has you 1 down from where you started unless it gains haste or someone attacks. I'm looking for something to soften bob's drawback, not make it worse! :p

How is that a problem though, considering Phyrexian Arena. A guaranteed 1 extra card per turn is worth 1 life, and this is a potential 1 extra card per turn at no life (provided you're above 1 life and you can attack with it)! How is that not better than Bob? (Ok, it's four mana, that's how it's not better than Bob!) Throw a Bonesplitter on it and you're gaining life :D

Not saying it's a bad card, it's just different than what I intended! :p
Phyrexian arena is a fine card, as is yours, but if you really need doom blade and draw phyrexian arena, it's not going to help you much XD

Silver Bulette {2}{B}{B}

Lifelink
Pay 3 life, exile two cards from your hand: Search your library for a card and put that card into your hand. Then shuffle your library. Activate this ability only during your end step.

Bob's drawback is worse. Bob in limited will make you lose a fist full of life for a single card outta nowhere sometimes. You ever play Gargadon and bob in the same deck? Its also like entirely common for my aggro decks that top out at 4 to have an average CMC of about 60/40.

These cards keep getting more and more contrived. Please no life gaining necropotence men that cost less than 5. You can find better ways to make a BALANCED card drawing bomb in black.

Agreed.

Necroman {2}{B}
Creature - Snake Lizard Shepherd
Skip your draw step.
Sacrifice a creature, pay 2 life: Draw 2 cards.
3/1

Eerie Outsider {2}{B}{B}
Creature - Horror
Contract - {2}{B}, Discard Eerie Outsider: Draw two cards and lose 2 life.
When Eerie Outsider becomes the target of a spell, that spells controller loses 2 life.

I think Murderous Magpie is perfectly fine, and Silver Bulette was more of a joke, but probably still okay-ish, though tutoring each turn is really, really strong, even at that cost I suspect. I fail to see how both are close to Necropotence in function though. It's not like you can fill your hand with either of them.

Eerie Outsider is a nice card though. I love modal spells, and this is a nice way to make a "spell" creature. Kind of reminds me of evoke, or... Wait. It's the channel mechanic from Kamigawa block!

all of the red 7's are really underpowered and i'm not sure how i'd address that except ignoring them
assignment: make sweet red 7 drops

my attempt:
{4}{R}{R}{R}
Creature - Giant
When ~ enters the battlefield, ~ deals 4 damage to target player and each creature he or she controls
When ~ leaves the battlefield, ~ deals 4 damage to target player and each creature he or she controls

Flamebirthed Spawning
{5}{R}{R}
Sorcery
Choose two:
  • Destroy all artifacts.
  • Put a 5/5 red Dragon creature token with flying onto the battlefield.
  • Deal 3 damage to each creature.
  • Creatures you control have +2/+0, haste, and trample until end of turn.

Very neat, I like it.

i'd love it to have a deal 5 to creature or player option
5 damage to target player was my first choice for mode 4, actually. Then I decided I prefer an Anthem effect for any creatures you have lying around that haven't been able to punch through some damage. And conveniently, that means we've got a 7/5 trampler on the field now... which has a very good chance of being able to do some dome damage just like a burn mode would.

Just because WotC hasn't printed a five-mode card doesn't mean we can't, but each mode added will multiplicatively contribute to time spent weighing one's options.

{3}{B}{B}
Creature - Vampire Wizard
Deathtouch, flying
Whenever a creature dies you may pay 1 life and draw a card.
Sacrifice a creature: Target player loses 1 life.
