Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Conspire seems a bit weak unless you have a lot of tokens?

I've been thinking about some cards:

Black artifact hate?

I think gate could be worth a go if you're supporting the sacrifice deck, even better if you're supporting black devotion. I don't think I have room for it at 360 though. It might be a bit much if you're running artifact.dec though?

I'm not running artifact.dec, but I like putting in cards that go towards monoB, and it would be good if they had a good answer to swords and jitte, besides from brutally murdering the creature carrying it. Not that I have any of the prot B swords. I think I'll put in the Gate for a bit, and see how it works, if anyone picks it at all.

I have refused to cube Land Tax forever. Its just so miserable a card in constructed. I never felt the need to give it a chance.

Now, I'm thinking about it, and it is something pretty unique to drop on turn 1, but I still think I hate the card.

Anyone have any ideas that might change my mind, or does this card just suck (the life out of the game).

I used to run Land Tax but I don't think it really brings much value to the gameplay experience. I never really felt like it was contributing anything from a gameplay perspective.

Is this a real card if you run a good amount of auras?

I don't think so. The main draw is getting Eldrazi Conscription into play way too early. I mean, it can do some cute things like fly in then swap into Empyrial Armor or do a shelter impersonation, but its a lot of mana for a situational effect.

Aura Finesse has the right cost for this kind of thing. If I am actually interested in the flying and replayability, Shimmering Wings is also an option. If you want to push auras on top of auras, Daybreak Coronet hits hard.

Aura aggro's biggest weakness is it needs a bunch of different cards to function: a creature, an aura and disruption. Having a card like this which is contingent on another card to be useful just increases the chance you get a bad hand or bottlenecked (which is why I don't run Daybreak Coronet). I think the additional vulnerability isn't worth the potential cuteness: there just aren't a lot of high cost auras that Arcanum Wings will gives you an advantage on.

I am very interested in trying this out, so interested that a good friend of mine gave me a foil of it yesterday for the cube. Any experiences with it in cube?

I've had it in my cube for a few drafts, but nobody was in UW those drafts

I've got high expectations. She does have the you have to untap with it, but damn is it sweet when she connects

There's the possibility to extend my +1/+1 counter archetype into blue. What I want to know is whether this card has been good in people's cubes without the Ion Storm or other archetype support. It looks fine in a Ux tempo style deck. Any experiences, guys?

Halp!

So after Jason spurred me into action for my puke-inducing choice of Wall of Reverence, I tried the Seraph of Dawn experiment. It's been a moderate success here, and while it goes late, the control decks often maindeck it to hold off evasive bodies, gain some amount of life, and peck away at opponent's life totals.

I'm now looking for something similar, but at the two or three cmc slot. Preferably a hombre that has a decent amount of toughness, and a touch of lifegain would be a bonus. Right now the only thing I run that would qualify is Wall of Omens.

I've seen this in the MTGO cube, but that might be as damning as it is helpful. Suggestions welcome!

Seraph of Dawn over the infinity other white 4's eh?

Descendant is pretty cool but a little low power-wise ('worst set ever'), how about some nice Knight of Meadowgrain or something?

How about the white seacoast drake? :p

In all realness though, Descendant is garbage (I think I remember advising you to take him out, you had him in to boost the gilded lotus deck?)
We all need to appreciate just how good Vampire Nighthawk is :p
