Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Memory Jar is delightful but you really need to be doing something with the 7 cards. I don't think it fits much of anywhere

I knew there was a reason that seemed familiar

I wish I could say I'd been drinking but Christmas has been depressingly sober

No reason to include narrow cards, Eidolon is good in Standard because it goes well with good cards and the same will be true in your Cube

It's okay to include a few slightly subpar cards to support a theme, but that only works if the rest of the environment is not too cutthroat. I have an enchantment subtheme in my cube, but run only Nyx-Fleece Ram and Madcap Skills of that list. Madcap Skills is insane in an aggro deck, and Ram is solid in a Wx control or midrange deck.

There's actually a thread about this I think. <searching/> http://riptidelab.com/forum/threads/enchantress.428/

There you go!

This being better than Elvish Visionary is probably a decent litmus test for whether your graveyard theme is present/popular.

I've always had a weird fondness for the elf, but it doesn't cut it. You really run it, CML? *Checks CML's list* Yes he does. Hm.

I've been considering running this beauty mainly because the art is siiiick, but also because I have a small morph theme in blue and black and she makes for a brutal addition to the guessing game. My worry is that her stats just aren't good enough when compared to my other 5's like Bloodgift Demon and Doomwake Giant. Anyone have any experience with her?

I think she would be pretty decent if you upped the number of cheap fight effects and added a few instant speed threatens that could untap her.

The unmorph cost might be an issue though?

Gameplay > art, and will depend on power level of rest of your cube, but if you do go for it, fun with:

Every time my opponent plays this in a cube draft I groan. Will my cube be more fun if I add this card? (i.e., given that I support Boros, should I cube this card?)

I can't think objectively around this card, and I really dislike that ultimate. Guess I've been on the receiving end of it way too often, and it's even more demoralizing than unlimited krakens.

He tends to seal the deal IF you're already ahead and if he's not dealt with. But more often than not, he -2's then eats 2-3 damage. Or takes 6 turns without taking damage to get back to ultimate. I think he's ok

AV is a judgment call, I think, but is a strong card in Cube. On one hand, I hate how he accentuates mana screw, on the other hand he is probably OK in most environments in spite of being a top-5 constructed walker of all time. Here is why. An interesting discussion yesterday was how my team hates the new walkers in standard because they are unpleasant to play against. Alright, but what makes them so unpleasant? Simple -- they're beefy. Ashiok costs 3 and goes to 5. Elspeth goes to 5 and makes 3 goddamn tokens. In an environment lighter on creatures this doesn't matter so much -- Ashiok whiffs against control decks in standard, Elspeth Knight-Errant is too slow for Legacy now, and so on. But everyone in Cube has creatures, and accordingly the best metric for "how cool is this walker in cube?" is: "how beefy is it?" This elegant formulation explains why most of us have fun with JTMS and not with Elspeth Knight-Errant, who is miles too strong.
