made a new thread for the four posts above me talking about my RUG deck, seen here now

Card/Deck Start your Engines: A Temur Card Advantage Deck

Moved over from the cool control thread: Please note that this thread has by and large taken a sharp left turn for multiple reasons. Overall, the focus has shifted to the {R}{G} pair, in order to eventually set up a robust archetype for re-investigating this overall concept. See this spot in...

General Making control decks more interesting

I've created a thread for the deck post I made (see below). Didn't know how to directly transfer, so I brute forced it! If you are wondering what all the awesome compliments are for, check it out!

General Making control decks more interesting

having tested for a while with Gx midrange-control in standard, I can see Seasons being way too strong for my environment, at least. I feel like All Sun's Dawn is more my speed, getting 2-3 cards, probably. Too bad, really, because everything Grillo says I agree with. It's an incredible control...

    General The Constructed thread

will be trying this myself, but with Abzan colors, and more midrangey. Definitely every time I've been testing, and drawn a Greenwarden, I've rather wanted it to be a Seasons' Past. There might some weight to it being too good for cube, but definitely cool in constructed. Also would let me put...

General Making control decks more interesting

I think so, and giving that card a second look, I think it's an incredible piece for green control in cube. ACS is probably 4-6 cards! If you really build the deck to capitalize on CMC (pod anyone?), you could get upwards of 9 cards! Wow

    General Fight Club

I think the right bounceland format would definitely be a great place for it! Also I'm not terribly surprised by the people who've said it would/did do nothing. For one I'm seeing cohesive aggro packages all around... my singleton format almost by nature has more trouble with super-fast aggro...

    General Fight Club

In even an incrementally slower environment I could see it doing more than nothing, but definitely important evidence to keep in mind! I know I have won at least one IRL cube game using it, in someone else pile-o-best-cards. I think it gets a loooot better if you recur it, a la the sample gifts...

    General Fight Club

Check out RBM's post over in the 'cool control decks' thread! Totally a home run. Any opinion on the arts? I'm liking the drama in the launch party version, but should I break from the OG???

General Making control decks more interesting

This! This is a good post. Constructive, eye-opening. Like, I had no idea the green one is the one that wins. So cool! And the sample deck, control of every non-blue color. Sweet. That's how I get won over to a card, that's for sure. Oh, and bonus (all cards in my cube): gifts ungiven Obelisk...

I'll offer up high sentinels of arashin As a replacement fourth. Sweet mana sink, nice flying body, and a +1/+1 payoff card, if that is a thing.

I'll probably try to find one of those now :). I've always had it in the back of my mind, but never went in on it until this in depth analysis. Like that it rewards solid deck construction/splashes, and is firmly a cool control win con in the spirit of this thread! Also can basically have...

Onderzeeboot's Khans of Alara WUBGR Cube

Speaking of custom mana rocks, why not guardian idol? I get that mutavualt/the factory are cooler, but comprehension etc etc. Basically it's already there so why not?

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Nostalgic dreams Been tinkering around in my mind with Gifts Ungiven, and figuring out cards that naturally: a) support it b) are good on their own c) potentially are really cool I think that Dreams fits this bill very well. It has a lot of potential uses, and cool interactions, and on the...

hammer of bogardanvoyaging satyrMina and denn, wildbornsin prodder -cool mana sink, and not-too-heavy-handed removal -mana ramp in green, interacts with the bounceland format -same sort of deal, helps RG have the big-mana feel, plays well with bouncelands -seems really cool and strong with...

I do run Molten Vortex and Life from the Loam, and had it come together once. It's a really cool little engine, and plays well in RG/RUG/jund control

General Making control decks more interesting

Yeah, maybe... but it's kinda the Step 1 for making gifts happen. I notice that you do have rites, so Step 1 is done. Beyond that, it certainly is a conundrum. Some potentials: skaab ruinator soul of innistradto the slaughterdeep analysis Edit: raven's crimelife from the loamworm...

unburial rites. Right? Isn't that like, the combo? I recently tossed it back in. I want to see if my drafters even try anything with it, and maybe that can inform my quest a little.
