General Splashability and Green's Role as a Secondary Color

Yeah, lack of good devotion incentives in both white and green really bug me. I run Nylea, God of the Hunt, but the jury's still out on her. I think the only splashable mono-green cards in my cube are Rancor and Tarmogoyf. Luckily, though, there are a ton of sweet multicolor green cards worth...

    Eric Chan's Modern cube (405)

Yeah, part of it is that I'm not even sure if there's a real problem, despite the feedback from my players. I almost never draft less than three colours, so there's usually something somewhere to deal with pesky flyers. Now that I'm tossing in some incidental devotion support, though, I can see...

    Eric Chan's Modern cube (405)

Some of your comments are pretty prescient. I got some feedback last night that there wasn't enough defence against flyers, specifically in green. Is this a problem that's common among other cubes? What green reach creatures are cubeable? Penumbra Spider Arbor Colossus Silklash Spider...

General Decks that have 3-0'd your cube

Six-man today, so we ran teams, and no actual 3-0 emerged. But this deck felt like the closest to a winner! Ones 2 Delver of Secrets 1 Reckless Waif 2 Burst Lightning Twos 1 Augur of Bolas 1 Keldon Marauders 1 Hellspark Elemental 1 Mogg War Marshal 1 Ninja of the Deep Hours 1 Phantasmal...

Article Journey to Nyx: Cube Review

I suppose, but I'm not a huge fan of it in those situations. Did any non-graveyard Standard decks make use of it? I don't know if I'd just throw it in a cube Boros aggro deck, for example.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

OH MAN for the longest time I was staring at Dom's post, wondering why he'd separated his cards on three different lines, and couldn't figure out what combo he was trying to show us this time

Article Journey to Nyx: Cube Review

The thing is, I don't even run Faithless Looting because I don't have much (any?) graveyard interaction in red, and I think the same is true for most people on here. Like, I don't get the sense that red looting is an important part of the graveyard decks that people are looking to support...

General P1P1 with Marshall Sutcliffe and Rashad Miller

Acidic Slime! But that's cause I love me some green. (I edited your post to use the [ci] tag instead of [c], for easier viewing. Hope you don't mind.)

Article Journey to Nyx: Cube Review

Is it, though? I think the decks that could make room for something like Faithless Looting would be interested in Mystic. I mean, you're not always milling cards. You can draw them, too. But when the milling is potentially profitable, too, hey, you might have a card.

Yes! I'm kind of face-palming, now that I realize I didn't mention what I thought was obvious, but I don't think you want Dakra Mystic unless you're mucking around with the graveyard. I assume he works best if you're interested in looting-type effects, with the caveat that you can't, you know...

Try Hydra Broodmaster for your green six-drop slot. I have high hopes for this guy!

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Pyreheart Wolf is pretty underrated. As my cube has slowly morphed from a singleton power-max beast into its current, more aggro-friendly incarnation, and I've moved red away from Shard Volley, Ball Lightning, and Shrine of Burning Rage-type burn spells towards Firefist Striker and...

    General Double Strike theme?

Chris Taylor wrote us a great article on this exact theme some months ago. http://riptidelab.com/one-two-punch-adding-a-double-strike-theme/ FSR wrote an article on the heroic mechanic, which covers similar ground, and has some unique ideas of its own...

Article Journey to Nyx: Cube Review

I agree with the peanut gallery in the article comments that Dakra Mystic is worth a shot. She's mana intensive, but I love that you get a choice. Oppressive Rays seems sweet if you're in the market for cheap, aggro-friendly white removal. It might just be my love of all things Overrun, but...

Speaking of which, has anybody tried this? Seems like it could be promising, even if it's at the dreaded four mana slot. Nighthowler

I was reading SCG today (I know, I know) and one guy recommended Rip-Clan Crasher in Modern because it can be cast by Burning-Tree Emissary. VERY NICHE CUBE OPTIONS
