EDH needs a bullet to the skull (in it's current form)

Do you say this because you would play it if it were better, or because there exists a format out there that you have zero interest in anyways? Genuine curiosity.

Because I genuinely hate EDH, but I am glad there's a catchall for the people out there wanting multiplayer Magic.

My main problem with EDH is people going 'EDH is casual and not serious' and then being the most seriousest seriouses around.

My secondary problem with it is it just isn't well designed. It's hundred card singleton except you know lets just all run every tutor we want so that we can ignore that and run our same bombs out every game and then complain that people are running bombs but if you play a deck that isn't abusive then you're always losing, because everyone else is playing the bullshit serious game.

I'd be pretty much fine with it if every card that said "search your library" was banned unless it was followed by "for a basic land". Well, maybe marginally more than that, but not much. EDH as she is played isn't casual hundred card singleton with a thematic commander who is in charge of your deck, it's degenerate combo modo cube meta constructed, claiming to be the former.

That's all dependent on playgroup of course. People who actually treat EDH as a living game and aren't slaves to Sheldon's bizarre fetishes are probably actually having fun; I mock my friends who come to me with shitty stories about getting ultra blown out in EDH (constantly) by asking 'but you had fun, right?'

They frequently have not had fun.

Couldn't that have been costed at six at least? Or even five?

As an instant?

Unfortunately for me my LGS is where Sheldon runs an EDH league so the MTG crowd is largely both EDH-centered and controlled by his every word. It also keeps me from playing there on Thursdays. They are insufferable as a group.

Assuming he gets released as we've seen, fanatic of xenagos seems awesome:

Fanatic of Xenagos {1}{G}{R}
Trample
Tribute 1
If ~'s tribute was not paid, ~ gets +1/+1 and gains haste until end of turn
3/3

So either 3 mana for a 4/4 trample, or 3 mana for a 4/4 trample haste, and a 3/3 trample the rest of the time. Since I'm not hot on devotion, maybe this guy is easier on the 3c drafters than boggart ram-gang is?

I just want to share this little tidbit:

Thank you red mythics for being only mildly better than blue uncommons.

What I meant was I didn't think anyone else would be interested in a heroic creature that accelerates auras other then me. In most people's cube he's a Glory Seeker that might make angelic destiny and control magic cost 3.

4 mana 5/5 french vanilla flier as a mythic
5 mana 4/3 flier with an ability as an uncommon.

Mythics are supposed to be powerful or do something special, right? This is pretty pathetic. I'm just always hurtbutt pretty much every release about red's mythics being lazy, unplayable, or literally nonexistent (core sets). Lately people just say "you got a dragon with haste, shut up" while other colors are getting at least interesting things. I just want stuff for my pet color, not phantasmal dragon without the drawback.

You'll be a lot happier once you stop caring about rarity. Just pretend the concept doesn't exist: considering it has no impact on gameplay, its not that hard.

Okay phantasmal dragon would have been a better comparison :p

If green got a mythic GG terminate, would you be similarly disappointed?

It may not affect gameplay by itself but, considering the rarity distribution determines the sort of cards we can get, wasting red mythic slots on crap like this (when the commons certainly won't be any better...) won't do anything to boost red's quality as a colour.

Caring about what cards are printed in what color at what rarity also won't do anything to improve your cube. It will only upset you.

I'm just saying thinking that because they printed this crap phoenix means you won't get a really awesome card accomplishes nothing and also probably isn't true.

They probably printed the crap phoenix because they didn't have an awesome red card they were willing to print.
