Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I really want to play this as its an interesting mana accelerant that can do other things like kill attackers and trigger morbid. It's basically off colour dark ritual though and not sure i want turn two deadbridge goliaths and polukranos...

Maybe one for the eldrazi domain cube Jason?

When Ice Age was released, Jokulhaups was a card that captured my imagination. It was really interesting to try to figure out how to use the thing and required gutsy deckbuilding.

These days its pretty simple to make it work and annoying that they made the same card, but better and turned it blue (Upheaval). I am a former huge fan of the card, but I don't like it in most cubes, including my own.

in a less powerful Cube with lots of tokens?
I'm trying it in my cube, I have low hopes. Possibly should be Blightcaster instead?

Tinder Wall is pretty legit, and is fun to play with. I like accelerating things out early, but not all forms of acceleration have the same cool "feel" to them. This is a card that should probably be in more cubes.

Played with it today in a black/blue deck with a reasonable amount of enchants include Diabolic Servitude and Riptide Chimera. His huge size was very welcome, but the actual trigger was lackluster. I killed one dude with it once. He comes down kind of late for it to be very relevant. With corpse dance I was able to threaten using it to the opponent's turn, which was slightly useful. The deck I was playing against had lots of things I could kill, but I was the slower deck and actually had to kill them well before I hit the 5th land for sake of not being dead.

Ninja can do some cool things, but normally does nothing. On the plus side, it does draw a card (when it doesn't die to removal)... I think it would depend on the composition of your cube, is Blue often paired with early (preferably evasive) attackers? Do you have cheap creatures with an ETB that is basically all they do (Elvish Visionary springs to mind, although Auger of Bolas could also be neat here, and is rarely going to be blocked)? I don't know, I used to run two, now I run one, and it definitely contributes to the fun of the environment, mostly by giving players an excuse to shout 'SURPRISE! NINJAAAAAAA!'. Whether is contributes the the quality of the environment, I am not sure...

How about this one I only recently came to know of:

This pretty much mirrors my experiences with both ninja and his buddy mistblade shinobi. They both can be impactful and lead to interesting decisions, but they're probably other blue cards I could be running in that slot that would be better for my cube. However, at this point they are basically an institution and I can't imagine taking them out without protest, which maybe says something in itself.

Oddly enough, I would say mistblade shinobi has been more impactful than ninja of the deep hours, and both of them get drafted over ink-eyes, servant of oni. Very weird.

I enjoy Ninja a lot. It usually gets drafted in the second half of the pack, but people play it.

I just put deep hours back in my cube. He's always been fringe playable IMO, but as Ux tempo has gotten more attention in recent updates to my cube I think he will be pretty good now. And ninjutsu is just a fun ability so it's win win is my thinking.

I tend to think of Ninja as one of those cards that works much better in constructed than limited.

I think it's good value in any deck running dudes. 1U for 2 damage and a card is really good. Even if that's all you get. Plus there's the extra synergy of potentially reusing an ETB trigger on something else. Oh, and he's really good friends with Thassa's activated ability.

Maybe I'm just blinded by the fact that he's a ninja?
