"When cards are banned from a format, Wizards investigates whether there is a banned card that, if not banned, might add new decks to competitive play."
cause thinking about format decisions more frequently than now and then would be to haaaaaaard

people will complain but TC needed to go. wouldn't be at all surprised to see DTT get restricted as well.
i don't know modern but pod always struck me as a mistake and it will only get worse set after set with creature power creep in full effect as it is nowadays

DTT could easily see legacy ban or vintage restriction. Most of the reason Dig hasn't been run much in legacy is because you can only run about 5 delve spell between the two, and cruise was a bit better in delver. Though some ran a 3/2 split or similar.

i'm surprised dig didn't get restricted too if cruise did

TC is easy to use in a wider variety of decks, and was also in the deck rising to dominance (delver) so it was an easier call for them to make.
without TC around people will start to turn to DTT as an alternative and find it just as powerful and nearly as easy to cast.

dig was just better in everything non aggressive as far as i can tell? UU is a lot easier in vintage than in legacy

mostly yeah, except mana cost because...

i would argue the exact opposite. every mana counts in vintage.
been testing a little and it already annoys me sometimes not having that second blue to cast spell pierce to protect

or god forbid trying to hold drain up.
wait...

eh who knows. whenever i watch vintage vids either it's very low margin or everyone has 12 mana. 90% of games are awful and 10% are sublime. it's basically power cube in those regards

A bunch of my friends are getting into Tiny Leaders. Any recommendations on that front? I feel like Athreos and Pharika are ideal to build around since, you know, they actually stay alive.

Guys my buddy played me another episode of constructed resources again and marshal sutcliff is talking about bannings and formats he has no frame of reference for and I think I'm gonna make a reddit account (EW ikr?) to piss on his smug parade....

around here it is universally acknowledged that marshall is a bland and dull fool, a grossly incompetent player and commentator who only got his sweet gig from the only way to make a living from magic (viz. corporate cocksucking), and a nice person.

I like how you differentiate between skill and personality :)

tell me what the combo is baby

It's based around Temur Sabertooth. You use it to bounce creatures like Karametra's Acolyte and other untap guys to generate a ton of devotion mana (4x Nykthos in here as well) with Temur Ascendancy out or make huge copies of Genesis Hydra to just beat down. I think it uses Nylea, God of the Hunt and Nissa Worldwaker as other ways to win. Plays 3x Coursers and Eidolons for dat card draw. It was one camera at SCG DC, looked pretty awesome. He never actually comboed out for the win, but he just made a ton of mana and beat the crap out of the other guy. Even after an Ugin -X from the opponent to wipe his board. It was pretty awesome.

That sounds like the most convoluted combo...
In order to yield mana from bouncing with the Sabertooth, your mana creature has to tap for at least 'casting cost + 3'. This means 7 for the Acolyte, and 7 for Satyr Wayfinder (since you need 2 to activate Nykthos). This is already a 3-card combo (4 for Wayfinder), but is also dependant upon having 7 devotion in play. You have 2 from Sabertooth, 1 from your mana-creature, and 1 from Ascendency, so need 3 more from somewhere (preferably from a 4+ power creature, since then you can also draw your whole deck). Sounds... kind of vulnerable to disruption.

Yeah, pretty convoluted, but it's Standard so it works every now and then. It's super fringy, maybe it was more a Week 1 thing than anything. Then again, no one's prepping to beat Temur Ascendancy of all things.

I think the shell of that deck is good enough that you can just minimize the combo and kick the crap out of people. i tried it the other day and sabertooth is so horrible that it makes me think wtf bad could happen if you just played Savage Knuckleblade instead, made the obvious switch from Caryatid to Rattle, cut the other bad cards, etc.

CML, thoughts on something like this?

4 Satyr Wayfinder
4 Courser
4 Siege Rhino
1 Eidolon of Blossoms
2 Doomwake Giant
2 Hornet Queen
3 Tasigur

2 Commune with the Gods
2 Whip of Erebos
2 ?

2 Abzan Charm
3 Hero's Downfall
2 Murderous Cut
2 Bile Blight

25 Land

Commune seems a lot better now that you can turbo out Tasigur, but idk if that means you want to be heavier or lighter on Whip.

I want to try this because RW is scary for traditional Abzan, and they have a tough time beating Hornet Queen or continuous lifegain; Murderous Cut helps a lot too. This list is weak to typical Abzan now though? There are lots of random haymakers that are good against Abzan, but I'm not sure what the right mix is. Ugin is a concern too.

Need some stuff to fill out the last maindeck slots; it could just be the 3rd Whip/Queen, but I don't want my draws to get too clunky.
