Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Good points all around. I actually don't run any of the -/- wraths at the moment, but that could change any day now.

Terminus is just so miracle. I guess I'll start looking at those when the gravecrawler decks start winning :p

Oh, so Kaho reads the book then never picks it up again? She sounds more like a half-studious college student than an actual historian.

Escort is cool if you're trying to protect something like Hero of Bladehold or Baneslayer Angel, but otherwise it's competing with a lot of other cards and offers an effect that's replaceable and doesn't do much.

Agree, it's not very exciting for a gold card. The selesyna guild cards are doing my head in at the moment. The only one I really like is qasali pridemage and the rest of them are just a bit blurgh. Anyone want to sell me on any of the others? I was getting sweet on loxodon hierarch but put in obstinate baloth instead to give the fires deck a bit more on colour meat.

I really like Mirari's Wake. Anthem + Flare lets you have fun with manasinks without completely abandoning the board, which is pretty cool.

Trostani is really strong, but a bit lopsided in where it puts out value. Plays great with Wake too.

Knight of the Reliquary is a land tutoring fatty, can't go wrong with that.

Armadilo Cloak is just nuts as far as auras go.

Just make sure you play Cloak and not Unflinching Courage. OG Points++

I mean, if we are going to be excluding cards for their art, though, this one is pretty high on my list.

This was supposed to be Emmara Tandris's card, but they had to do a last minute swap for power-level concerns (Emmara was slotted to be printed at rare along with the other guild champions, with Voice of Resurgence's rules text). I'm considering breaking my no custom cards rule for an art and flavour swap back to the original intended design. Elves are way cooler than weird forest goat-men, in any case.

maybe something for cubes of lesser power (and who can't afford the original)?
I like how it works together with token producers like Ophiomancer and Curse of Shallow Graves while being a beater.
not something for many decks, though

nah this is a "weird stone unplayable draft rare" notice how he stares into his own abyss and the abyss stares into him

how about Anowon, the Ruin Sage?

I thought about Magus as a 4drop in UB tempo builds (besides being somewhat good in BW tokens) dunno if Anowon would make the cut, but I'll definitely throw it into my cube and see what happens. bolt proof would be nice as a cc5, though.

I know this was mentioned recently in the lifegain thread, but has anyone else been playing this? I have since its release and it barely gets played, but every time it does it's powerful and memorable.

I am also very interested in additional feedback. I love the art on this card (and I love angels), but I don't think it does enough so I'm not running it. If only it had haste.

But if guys are having success with it, I would love to hear about it. Because I could make room for it.

I haven't really seen it in too much action, it was super strong in Eldrazi Domain though. Uh... let's theorycraft it?

If this was 3-mana for a 3/3 flier we'd be almost there. Gold is problematic, but, you know. If you trigger this even once you're probably rolling in value town. Obviously there are factors, and removal density is probably one of the biggest ones. Token density also contributes. It also provides runaway value if left unchecked. It's definitely on the weaker side when you hold it up next to Heros or Skinrenders or what have you. I guess I don't really know, but for now I'm running it.

While we are on the subject of Firemane Avenger... I just started reading through the life gain thread. It makes me want to try it. I was not a fan at first, but there is definite appeal now. I know one of my drafters would be all over a life gain deck which is one of the reasons I'm tempted.
